Why run your own node?

If you check your wallet balance or send/broadcast a Monero transaction from your mobile wallet when connected to an unknown remote node you'll share your IP address with that unknown node.

The PiNodeXMR project is designed to remove nearly all of the technical barriers to running a Monero Node. Either:

(1) It's one command to install.

(2) We have pre-made disk images for popular hardware available for free too. Just write the disk image to your device just as you would any other!

Hardware

PiNodeXMR is built on top of Ubuntu Server LTS

It turns your device into a dedicated 24/7 Monero node.
For laptops and compact PCs the base OS can be found here:

It is also ideal to use single board computers for their low cost and low power consumption...

So how do I install?

From the base Ubuntu Server/CLI OS it's just one command!

***Important*** this project is intended to convert your device into a dedicated Monero node from a clean OS. Running this script on top of anything else existing on the device will likely overwrite it in an unrecoverable manner.

If you choose this method and find the project useful, please consider a small donation to offset our disk image hosting costs (The Address can be found on the Web-ui landing page)

This project has recently (Jan 2024) moved GitHub repositories resulting in new file links/URLs in addition to updates and new features since the disk image creation. These disk images below we're created ~Aug 2022 and so once installed an update will be required. You can trigger this from the terminal update menu "Update PiNode-XMR".

Due to disk image age and relatively slow disk image download speed I'd recommend the standard install method of loading an Ubuntu Server LTS then building PiNodeXMR from its install script. I will leave these disk images here as a second, less ideal, option.
